How to remove a product from your store but still have it buyable?

Updated this week

If you want to remove a product from your website but still allow customers to purchase it, you’ll need to ensure it’s not part of any navigation or collection that leads customers to it. Follow the steps below to hide a product from your site, while keeping it available for purchase.

Steps to Remove the Product from Navigation and Collections:

  1. Remove the Product from Categories and Collections
Navigate to your Shopify Admin dashboard, then go to Products > Collections. Here, you will see a list of collections. Find the collection(s) that contain the product you wish to hide, and remove it from those collections. This ensures the product will no longer be featured in categories or navigation menus that lead customers to it.

  2. Update Navigation Menus
After removing the product from collections, head to the Navigation section to update your menu.
Go to Online Store > Navigation in your Shopify Admin.

In the main menu, check the links under the Main Menu or any other menus that lead customers to product categories. Remove any links to collections that include the product you wish to hide.
Once you’ve removed the product from the menu, ensure that the navigation links correctly point to the appropriate collections where your remaining products are displayed.

  3. Make Sure the Product is Available in the Online Store
Even though the product is no longer visible in the navigation, ensure it is still available for purchase on your website. To do this, check that the product is Active.

  4. Share the Product Using the Quick Checkout Link
If customers need to access the product, you can still share it with them directly using the Quick Checkout link. This link bypasses the navigation and lets customers purchase the product without seeing it in the standard store navigation.
